Commissioning

In the industrial context, the success of a project is measured not only in its physical realization, but in its ability to operate in a stable, safe and compliant way. Whether it is an industrial plant, an automatic machine or a production line, the transition from the installed system to the actual operating system requires a structured technical phase: the putting into service, also known as commissioning.

Emmetitech offers a professional commissioning service designed to ensure the controlled and verified activation of any new or modified industrial system. Each activity is carried out in the field by specialized technicians, with methodical approach and functional orientation.

Objective and application areas

The purpose of the commissioning is to bring the system – plant, machine or line – from the installation status completed to that of full operation. This is a technical intervention in which all subsystems are configured, tested, integrated and adjusted to operate in accordance with the design specifications and under real operating conditions.

The service applies in many contexts: ex novo installations, revamping, hardware/software upgrades, functional changes or extensions. It is particularly relevant in projects involving verification and validation phases, such as FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), SAT (Site Acceptance Test), IQ/OQ or GAMP qualifications.

Start of activities: when and how the commissioning starts

The commissioning starts only after the completion of the on-site technical tests (pre-commissioning), which include verifications on installation, wiring and signals. Once the technical readiness of the system has been established, it is possible to proceed with the actual start-up.

Activities are conducted directly in the field, following a logical sequence: program loading, device configuration, start-up of subsystems, functional tests and parameter adjustment. The execution takes place in coordination with the customer and any other suppliers involved, adapting the work to the real operating conditions of the system.

Operational phases of the service

The Emmetitech service is divided into five technical phases, common to most industrial projects. Each phase is defined by precise objectives and codified activities.

1. Preliminary verification of installation

Before proceeding with the start-up, a complete control of the physical installation of the system is performed. The correct power supply of the devices, grounding, signal wiring, equipment arrangement and the presence of minimum conditions necessary for technical activation shall be verified. This phase ensures that the system is ready for safe start.

2. Device configuration and signal testing

The final programs are loaded on all configurable devices, such as PLC, HMI, inverter, safety controller and communication modules. Then we proceed with the test of the digital and analog signals, performing complete loop check to verify the correspondence between field signals and controllers, the correctness of the assignments and the functional response of the devices involved.

3. Technical start-up, functional tests and safety tests

The system is gradually started, starting from the subsystems and moving on to the more complex automatic sequences. The PLC logics, HMI interfaces, local and remote controls, input response and actual plant behaviour are tested. In parallel, safety tests are carried out, with verification of the operation of emergency buttons, barriers, interblocks and stop or restore logics.

4. Adjustment and optimization
